Consultant

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Freshwater & Marine Ecosystems Branch (FMEB) and
other UN Agencies of the Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI), the incumbent will have
the overall responsibility of assisting in the day-to-day operations and support in the establishment of the
Oceans Compact Advisory Group.

Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent will carry out the following activities:

1. To work with the Coordinator, Freshwater & Marine Ecosystems Branch (FMEB) in the organization
of meetings related to the Oceans Compact, including conference calls, webinars, mail exchanges,
etc.

2. To compile and analyse comments submitted on the Action Plan of the Oceans Compact by relevant
stakeholders in a systematic matter that allows the Advisory Group to incorporate these comments.

3. Lead in the production of minutes and reports of meetings of the Advisory Group and any meetings
related to the Oceans Compact in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in relevant fields of environmental management,
environmental economics, international relations and development is required. A first university degree with a
combination of two years professional and academic qualifications may be accepted in lieu of the advanced
degree.

Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive experience in the field of ocean affairs and or business administration
or related area is required. Qualifying years of experience are calculated following the receipt of the first level
university degree recognized by the United Nations.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised,
fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
