Logistics and Declaration Officer

A premier Provider of Logistics solutions across the East and central Africa region is seeking to recruit a “Logistics / Declaration Officer

The position holder will be required to work closely with the various departments to provide leadership and ensure laid procedures are well executed to promote a culture of high performance within the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensuring proper and smooth day to day running of all operations
  • Tracking shipments, updating customers on arrival information and prompt customer service
  • Liaising closely with customers, and internal departments to coordinate the import and export of goods
  • Coordination on all shipments including preparation of all documentation, working with shipping lines, airlines, freight forwarders and inland carriers, providing updates, obtaining accurate charges, and performing all necessary data entry
  • Undertake all declaration procedures for imports and exports
  • Experience in Tariffs’ & Customs procedure codes, Simba and Orbus system, custom entry declaration, IDF applications and clearance under bond/exemption. TREO reconciliations will be an added advantage
Qualifications and other requirements
  • Diploma in clearing & forwarding or University degree in Business Administration or related course is required
  • Must possess an east African community freight forwarding and practicing certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in Clearing & Forwarding
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Computer literate
  • Must be flexible in work habits and schedules ,ready to work for longer hours when required
  • Must have knowledge of government procedures relating to imports & exports  and customs laws
