Provision of Consultancy Services for Proof Reading and Editing Child Rights / Child Protection Course Materials

Background

Save the Children International (SCI) is the world’s leading independent organization for children. 

As part of our contribution towards ensuring that every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation, Save the Children has been working with armed forces in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) since 1998 and with the African Union (AU) for the last ten years to promote the rights of children in conflicts, post-conflict and protracted political emergency situations. 



In view of this trend, SCI has continuously supported capacity building initiatives of security and defense forces. 

To this end, SCI intends to support development of existing training materials by engaging services of a consultant with significant knowledge of proofreading and editing and in-depth familiarity with the regional approaches to child rights and child protection.

The Scope of the Services and Objectives of the Consultancy

The overall goal of the consultancy is to edit and proofread the training materials, and provide corrections and suggest edits to maintain SCI established style, tone or form and quality without compromising the message.

The specific outputs of the consultancy are as follows:

a) With combination of creativity and excellent organization and meticulous attention to details, the incumbent will assist the Project Management Team (PMT) to provide extensive editing and proofreading ensuring editorial quality and graphic design;

b) The Consultant will ensure the linguistic and typographic presentation of the materials throughout the document including structure of the text, coherence of content, syntax, style, typesetting and presentations;

c) Edit and proofread all the sections and be capable of adjusting writing style for the targeted audience; and

d) Provision of recommendations for improving presentation of information;
