Position: Research Coordinator / Physician (1 Position)
Location: Nairobi
Reporting to: Principal Investigator
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and supervise study staff at the field site
- Manage human subjects protection including reporting to ERC
- Ensure proper administration of consent procedures
- Ensure QA of all study procedures and specimen collections
- See and treat patients who are participating in the study
- Preparation of research reports, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB or equivalent)
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
- Certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practice
- Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, coordinate, and accomplish research activities
- Strong analytic, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Expectations:
- Half-time position
- Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience
- Based in Nairobi
- S/he must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Able and ready to work long hours when necessary.
Desirable qualities, skills and abilities:
- Career interest in research in HIV/STI preferred
- Experience with couple counseling and HIV testing, PMTCT, and/or HIV treatment
- Certificate in Voluntary Counseling and Testing from NASCOP
- Training in research ethics
- Familiarity with research data collection
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a collaborative team
