Kenya Civil Aviation Authority is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Transport & Infrastructure, re-established under the Civil Aviation Act, 2013 with a Vision “to be a model of excellence in civil aviation” and the mission “to develop, regulate and manage a safe, efficient and effective civil aviation system in Kenya”.



Kenya was, in October 2013, elected to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council for a term of three (3) years. 

To ensure that Kenya plays its part in the Council, the KCAA, which is the implementing body of the Chicago Convention, on behalf of the Government, is seeking to recruit a qualified Kenyan citizen to fill the position of Kenya representative to the ICAO Council.

Position: Kenya Representative to the ICAO Council

Duration: 3 years

Reports to: Director General KCAA

Duties:
  • Represent Kenya’s and the Eastern Africa region’s position at ICAO
  • Participant in the development of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS)
  • Attend ICAO Council meetings and relay the information to KCAA
  • Liaise with all relevant KCAA departments on on critical issues of the Council
  • Manage the Kenya office at ICAO Headquarters
  • Facilitate Kenya delegations to ICAO meetings and trainings
Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree or equivalent academic qualification, plus experience, including in the field of policy development
  • Proven and respected leadership ability and communication skills
  • Aviation background
  • Knowledge of ICAO functions and organization
  • Knowledge of operations of other international organizations dealing with matters relating to aviation
  • Proven experience in negotiations, preferably with Government authorities
  • Experience with procedures of international meetings
  • Be a mature person of high integrity above 35 years of age
  • Ability to handle matters pertaining to foreign missions or delegations
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and multi-lingual environment
  • Ample experience in management of a large and successful organization would be highly desirable
