Our client The Brooke East Africa is an animal welfare charity for working donkeys, horses and mules. 

They currently seek to recruit an advocacy officer and an animal welfare officer, for a 2year appointment position, with possible extension, here in Nairobi. 


Advocacy Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain an overview of the needs and opportunities for advocacy on working equine welfare
  • Liaise with regional representative Manage policy / legislation in-depth managing process and playing an active role in research and data collection.
  • Coordinate / foster a culture of harmonization of messages, ensuring for example technical and policy content of Brooke materials are mutually reinforcing.
Minimum Qualifications

One must at least a degree in international development, law or animal health/welfare discipline. A good understanding of policy environment in Kenya and within the region, and at least five years NGO work experience in advocacy

Annual Gross Salary: 1.9 M



Animal Welfare Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide animal welfare / veterinary knowledge and skills wherever needed to support Brooke East Africa partners with animal health and welfare strategy, policies, plans and activities.
  • Act as the first point of contact for animal welfare issues for partners in the region
  • To support scoping studies and partnership assessments as directed by the Programme Manager/ Regional Representative
Minimum Qualifications

One must at least have a degree in animal health/welfare discipline such as veterinary (degree). A good understanding of evidence based approach and practice in animal welfare, experience in veterinary medicine, and at least five years NGO work experience in a similar work setting. 

Annual Gross Salary: 2.3 M
