Background

The Kimetrica Group is an international company providing knowledge services primarily to the non-profit sector. Kimetrica Limited is based in Nairobi and works with clients throughout Africa, in Europe, and in the US. 

We are seeking to recruit a senior software developer who can provide high quality programming and application development expertise. 

The focus is on online software development and applications.  

You will join a young and dynamic team that develops database applications for international clients. 

Much of the work is on core research and development on cutting-edge technologies.

 There are excellent opportunities to progress within the company.

Key Tasks

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be:

•    Application development:

• Coding in C#, java and other technologies as required
•  Develop web applications on asp.net/C# architecture
• Development of interfaces in HTML/CSS/Java script
• Research into appropriate tools, methods and libraries
• Unit testing

•    Software quality assurance and documentation:

• Helping to improve upon, and enforcing, Kimetrica standards and procedures
• Supervising configuration control
• Review of code
• Technical documentation

•    Leading development using Agile/Scrum methodologies including:

• Understanding client needs and client liaison
• Software application specification and design
• Coaching and supervision of junior developers
• Work planning and ensuring deadlines are met
• Opportunities for role as Scrum Master or Project Manager

Qualifications and Experience

Required

• University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• At least three years’ experience building web applications using an object oriented language
• High capacity for rapid learning
• Ability to write high quality code in C#, Java or similar
• Good understanding of relational database systems
• Experience working on commercial projects
• Good English language verbal and written communications

Desirable

• Experience of ASP.NET/C# or VB.NET environment
• Experience of Javascript
• HTML5, JQUERY for mobile and android experience
• Knowledge of PostGRES/PostSQL and MSSQL
• Knowledge of CSS3 is an added advantage
• Experience with mathematical and statistical functions
• Project management skills including line management and supervision
• Work experience with the AGILE/Scrum and Prince II methodologies

• Nairobi based
• Two month probation period with conversion to long‐term contract conditional on performance and project funding
