Compliance Officer, African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank

African Alliance Kenya Investment Bank Ltd (AAKIB) is an investment banking group operating in Africa. We provide investment banking services across the African continent. 

AAKIB offers stockbroking, asset management and advisory services to institutional and corporate clientele in East Africa. 

AAKIB is looking to recruit a Compliance Officer and an Equity Research Associate

Compliance Officer


To be based in Nairobi, Kenya

Main Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the role will be to implement and administer compliance management in AAKIB and its subsidiaries in Uganda and Rwanda.

Qualification Requirements
  • A relevant undergraduate qualification (BA LLB or similar degree is preferable).
  • A relevant Compliance Officer’s Examination would be desirable.
  • A Master’s qualification and/or a CPA/ ACCA qualification would be an added advantage.
Experience / Background Preference
  • Candidates will have no less than three years relevant experience.
  • Experience within the financial services industry is essential.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of the compliance and regulatory requirements of an investment bank or financial institution operating in Africa would be a strong preference.

Job Description / Key Performance Indicators
  • Together with the Group Compliance Officer, perform compliance planning, develop compliance policies and procedures.
  • Review and monitor internal practices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and group requirements and current policies.
  • Report on all new or proposed rules or regulations being introduced that would have an impact on the business.
  • Liaise with regulators and manage on-site inspections.
  • Liaise with internal business divisions to ensure sound understanding of compliance requirements and governance issues and advise management of emerging compliance issues.
  • Conduct Anti-Money Laundering (AML) assessments and ensure that processes and systems meet company policy and regulatory requirements.
Equity Research Associate

To be based in Nairobi, Kenya

Main Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the role will be to undertake and market fundamental sell-side research of listed companies in the East African region for the stockbroking wing of AAKIB.

Qualification Requirements
  • A relevant undergraduate qualification (BSc Actuarial Science or BCom Finance is preferable).
  • A Master’s qualification and/or a CPA/ACCA/CFA qualification would be an added advantage.
Experience / Background Preference
  • Experience within the financial services, telecommunications or manufacturing industries would be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of financial modelling would be preferable.

  • Assist in preparation of daily and weekly research reports.
  • Conduct fundamental analysis and prepare in-depth research reports on listed companies.
  • Present and discuss reports with local and foreign institutional investors.
  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships.
  • Undertake other ad hoc research activities as required.
