The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) is a State Corporation established under the Industrial Training (Amendment) Act No.34 of 2011.
The mandate of the Authority is to promote the highest standards in the quality and efficiency of Industrial Training in Kenya and ensure an adequate supply of properly trained manpower at all levels in industry.
The Authority wishes to recruit results oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision and creativity to fill various positions at its Headquarters based in Nairobi and Regional centres in Athi River, Kisumu and Mombasa to help it deliver on its mandate.
Applications are hereby invited from suitability qualified persons to fill the following vacancies at the Authority:
Director, Industrial Training
Grade 13
NITA 01/12/13
Reporting to the Director General/Chief Executive Officer, the Job holder will be responsible for direction, co-ordination and control of the functions and operations of the Industrial Training in the Authority.
Specifically the Job holder will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership, strategic direction and general oversight in the implementation of the Industrial Training activities in accordance with the Act, policies, procedures and regulations.
- Providing guidance and advice to staff of the department and the Authority in general on realization of National Industrial training objectives and liaising with the Training committee of the Board on strategic Industrial Training matters.
- Directing and Co-ordinating the activities of the professional, technical and administrative staff in the Authority;
- Determining operational policies on training programmes and all matters affecting the efficient and economic operations of Industrial Training Centres;
- Providing strategic advice and assistance that informs the Board and Management on matters relating to Industrial Training in all areas i.e. maintaining Industrial Training Levy Fund as well as controlling and administering Trade Testing in the Country and;
- Reviewing the operations and administration of the Industrial Training activities and providing the Board with periodic reports.
The successful candidate should have:-
- A Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: - Engineering, Technology, Social Science or Business Administration.
- A Masters degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in an Industrial Training set up with five (5) years at senior management level will be required.
- Possession of relevant professional qualification and membership to a relevant professional body.
- Proficiency in Information Communication Technology is mandatory.
- Those who have undergone a six (6) weeks course on Strategic Leadership at the Kenya School of Government or equivalent, will have an added advantage.
- Prior experience in managing a department/division in a large corporate and busy environment
- Proven competence in a frontline position, strong leadership and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead teams, organization and co-ordination skills
- Experience in control and training of staff in use of various procedures associated with the operations of a particular department
- Excellent interaction and presentation skills coupled with high integrity will be required.
Manager, Industrial Training
Grade 12
NITA 02/12/13
Reporting to the Director Industrial Training, the Job holder will be responsible for the effective administration and co-ordination of Industrial Training activities.
Specifically the Job holder will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and co-ordinating all training activities and trade testing at the centres.
- Facilitating course planning, training including preparing and reviewing schemes and syllabi for formal and informal sectors.
- Advising on procurement of machinery and equipment for training and trade testing.
- Co-ordinating the preparation and issuance of proficiency and trade testing certificates and certificates of apprenticeship besides liaising with the Training committee of the Board on strategic Industrial Training matters.
- Planning and organizing proficiency testing and liaising with external examining bodies ; and
- Overseeing the Instruction methods and development of staff undertaking industrial training tasks.
The successful candidate should have:-
- A relevant Bachelors degree and a postgraduate / professional qualification.
- A minimum of 7-8 years work experience in an Industrial Training set up with at least three (3) years at managerial level will be required.
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology and membership to a relevant professional body is mandatory.
- Those who have undergone a four (4) week course on Senior Management at the Kenya School of Government or equivalent will have an added advantage.
- Previous experience in application of specialized discipline and technology relevant to the Authority.
- Experience in managing a section in a large corporate and busy environment
- Very good leadership skills and ability to lead teams.
- Good interpersonal skills, managerial ability and high integrity will be required.
Centre Manager - Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu & Athi River

Reporting to the Director Industrial Training, the Job holder will be responsible for administration and management of the Centres.
The Job holder will be responsible for:
- Planning, reviewing, co-ordination and implementation of the centre’s policies and objectives.

- Management of training development that supports the Industry nationally at the Centre;
- Advising on curriculum review with respect to emerging Industry development trends;
- Ensuring that the facilities, machines and general infrastructure supports training and industrial skills upgrading and
- General management, administration and efficient uses of resources at the Centre.
The successful candidate should have:-
- A Bachelors degree in the field of Engineering or Technology and/or Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 7-8 years work experience with at least three (3) years at managerial level will be required.
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology and Membership to a relevant professional body is a must.
- Those who have undergone a four (4) week Senior Management course at Kenya School of Government or equivalent, will have an added advantage.
- Previous experience in application of specialized discipline and technology relevant to the Authority

Centre Manager - Kenya Textile Industrial Training Centre in Nairobi
Grade 12

Reporting to the Director Industrial Training, the Job holder will be responsible for administration and management of the Kenya Textile Industrial Training Centre in Nairobi.
The Job holder will be responsible for:
- Planning, reviewing, co-ordination and implementation of the centre’s policies and objectives.
- Development of the Centre in line with the Authority’s strategic plan.
- Managing of training development that supports the Industry nationally at the Centre;
- Advising on curriculum review with respect to emerging Industry development trends;
- Ensuring that the facilities , machines and general infrastructure supports training and industrial skills upgrading ; and
- General management, administration and efficient use of resources at the Centre.
The successful candidate should have:-
- A Bachelors degree in the field of Textile Technology/Engineering, Fashion Design or Mechanical Engineering Degree with experience in Textile.
- Masters degree in relevant field will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 7-8 years work experience with at least three (3) years at managerial level will be required.
- Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology and Membership to a relevant professional body is mandatory.
- Those who have undergone a four (4) week Senior Management course at the Kenya School of Government or equivalent, will have an added advantage.
- Previous experience in application of specialized discipline and technology relevant to the Authority.
- Experience in managing a section in a large corporate and busy environment.
