Group Product Manager - Consumer

Reporting to the Marketing Director, the Group Product Manager is responsible for growing the brands' profitability through judicious use of A&P funds in East Africa and the Island. (Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles)


Key Responsibilities
  • Developing long and short term category strategies for multiple East African markets including the islands.
  • Developing annual marketing plans and brand effort priorities.
  • Managing brand communication i.e. creative development and media (briefing, selection and evaluation)
  • Identifying new opportunities for growth in relation to new products, segments, geographies etc
  • Managing of advertising and promotions budgets and brand P&L accounts to achieve growth in a competitive environment.
  • Providing timely and adequate feedback to finance team on A&P spends.
  • Managing contingency A&P funds in response to changes in product demand to ensure brand profitability
  • Leading extended brand team comprising agencies and cross-functional team to realise brand initiatives.
  • Developing pricing strategies for multiple markets
  • Forecasting for product demand
  • Identifying opportunities for cost reduction to increase profitability
  • Designing consumer and trade promotions and support materials.
  • Managing consumer, trade and product research (briefing, proposal evaluation and insight generation)
Qualifications
  • MBA in Marketing and Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or manufacturing related field.
  • At least 3 years brand management experience; marketing experience with drinks or nutritional products will be an added advantage
  • Experience with other markets in the region
  • Project Management experience
  • Ability to work well under intense pressure
  • Able to generate well written and comprehensive proposals
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mind, good attention to detail, financial and problem solving skills
